Bitcoins may be down, but not out. BitPay, an electronic payment service, has launched a television campaign to popularise bitcoin transactions. The two ads are the first to promote bitcoin payments. Created by Felton Interactive Group, the ads showcase bitcoin and BitPay as a secure alternative to traditional credit-card transactions.
Bitcoin, a virtual currency created through a “mining” process where a computer’s resources are used to perform millions of calculations, has been hailed as revolutionary because of its lack of ties to a central bank and its potential as an alternative to credit cards for paying goods and services.
